Cast of The Mystery of Edwin Drood Unveils William Ivey Long Costumes
A whodunit in which an audience vote decides the guilty party, Rupert Holmes’ (book, music, lyrics) The Mystery of Edwin Drood employs a play-within-a-play structure. Based on the titular unfinished Charles Dickens novel, the musical draws from English music hall tradition with the lead role of Edwin Drood played by a woman (Stephanie J. Block) in male dress. Block co-stars withChita Rivera, Will Chase, Jessie Mueller and Jim Norton. Playbill caught up with the cast for a sneak peek of their William Ivey Long designed costumes. Scott Ellis directs the Warren Carlyle choreographed show arriving at Broadway’s Studio 54 on Oct. 19.
